Getting Ready for the 2016 CrossFit Games

Its that time again! In less than one week, athletes from around the world will head to Carson, CA to compete for the coveted "Fittest on Earth" title.

Its been a long road and there are a ton of top tier athletes competing this year.

Workout Predictions

Oh man.  We have been wrong before when predicting the Games workouts.  We know for sure that the HERO WOD, Murph will kick off the games according to CrossFit Games Director Dave Castro.  The 'Murph" WOD is a 1 mile run, 100 pullups, 200 pushups, 300 squats and a 1 mile run all with a weight vest.

During the 2015 CrossFit Games, the top three women for the “Murph” WOD were Sam Briggs, Alethea Boon and Kristin Holte.  The top three men were Bjorgvin Karl Guomundsson, Mat Fraser and Noah Ohlsen . All of those competitors are returning to Carson for the 2016 CrossFit Games.

Here are our top five movements that we are guessing will be part of the Games

  • Pistols (Dave Castro announced that Glock handguns will be given to the Games winners)
  • Snatches
  • Sprints
  • Overhead Squats
  • Pullups

How Can I Watch?

The CrossFit Games will be streamed live on the CrossFit Games website.

The Games starts on Tuesday (July 19th) with the Teens and Masters divisions.  The events begin at 9am PST and ends at 6pm PST.

The main events start on Friday (July 22nd) with the Teams and Individuals divisions.  Each starting at 9am PST and ending on Sunday (July 24th).  These events will be broadcasted live on ESPN and ESPN2.

All the Masters, Team and Individual events will also be covered on ESPN3 and Official CrossFit YouTube channel.

The CrossFit Games is a great time to get together with your friends and watch the Games as a community.
